The State Executive Committee of PDP in Ondo State has unanimously appointed Mr. Tola Alabere as the Acting Chairman of the party in the state in Akure today, to fill the vacuum of the suspended Chairman Fatai Adams on allegations of anti-party activities.

The decision according to the Party’s State Executive Committee is inevitably necessary to not only avoid vacuum after the suspension of Fatai Adams leadership but also to put the devoted and loyal party members on alert and assurance that the party is ready for business as a formidable apposition that matches its words with action.

In a clear and unambiguous terms, the State Working Committee gave reasons for the suspension of Hon. Fatai Adams among others but not limited to anti-party and undisclosed activities that undermined the integrity of the PDP as a viable opposition party in Ondo State. Fatai Adams on reacting to the suspension denied all of the allegations leveled against him but accused the action of the SWC as a politically motivated moves to suspend him and impose their choice as candidate for Akoko North-West/North-East Federal Constituency Bye-election.

Another descending voice sprang from the National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba that challenged the SWC action on the suspension of Fatai Adams through a press release which declared the actions of Ondo PDP State Working Committee as null and void because according to him, they lack the authority to suspend the chairman without due process.

Mr. Kenneth Peretei in his response as the SWC Publicity Secretary of Ondo State PDP responded swiftly to Debo Ologunagba’s admonition, asserting the authority of the State Chapter to suspend erring members as embedded in the party’s constitution regardless of ranks,  emphasizing  that nine members of the SWC, including Tola Alabere, Dayo Awude, Oluseye Olujimi, Amos Fadope, Moses Awofade, Boluwaji Bamidele, Olawumi Fasonu, and Kennedy Peretei himself, signed the notice that suspended the chairman for anti-party activities and that the Hon. Fatai Adams remains suspended for lack of confidence in his leadership until proven otherwise by the Disciplinary Committee.

Appointing Tola Alabere as Acting Chairman today gave a clear indication that the SWC of Ondo PDP stood by its action while awaiting further investigation into the anti-party activities of the embattled chairman.
