Ahead of October Gubernatorial election, Ondo State Governor Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN has been distributing bathroom slippers and ludo games with Akeredolu’s photograph. One begins to wonder what the Governor intends to achieve with these gifts. How did he arrive at these items as gifts? What does he take Ondo State people for? How many families in Ondo State use ludo in their homes for the purposes of recreation?

Most disgusting is the fact that the Governor wants to impress voters with a pair of slippers costing a mere one hundred and fifty naira in the market. Since majority of our youths have dropped out of school due to tuition fees, they should console themselves by playing ludo everyday. That appears to be the significance of these items being distributed.

It is apparent that Akeredolu thinks that Ondo State voters do not deserve anything more than ludo and slippers in exchange for collapsed infrastructure and unaffordable education and health care. If his masters told him to induce voters with gifts he should have asked them for the kind of gifts. If a man is sent on an errand for slaves, if he is of a noble background he would deliver same reflective of his nobility.

We urge Ondo State voters to reject these gifts as no Government has taken them for granted as much as the incumbent Administration of Akeredolu.
