Ondo 2020: Chief Olusegun Obasanjo Backs Eyitayo Jegede, Tells Mimiko to Join the Train

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has thrown his weight behind the PDP governorship aspirant in Ondo State, Barrister Eyitayo Jegede.

Obasanjo made this known yesterday while accepting some PDP stalwarts across South-West who came to pay him a courtesy visit at his Ota residence. He said: “just like what was experienced in Edo State, PDP will become victorious in Ondo gubernatorial election”.

He stated that Eyitayo Jegede is a true technocrat and season politician who knows what it takes to fix the problems of Ondo State unlike his APC adversary who has turned the office to family affairs and money making venture.

“I will advise Olusegun Mimiko to come back home and support Eyitayo Jegede. PDP that made him a Governor for (8) eight years still has enough room to make his interest protected and have his future ambitions realised”.

In his words, baba Iyabo said Rotimi Akeredolu is only interested in getting rich quickly through politics which is least expected of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria like him. “He doesn’t prove himself as a true SAN with the way he runs after money. I even expect him to surpass the record of his kinsman, Chief Adekunle Ajasin but it is quite unfortunate that for four years, he has succeeded in chasing shadows together with his family.”

Reacting to the threats issued by Hon. Isaac Kekemeke and other APC thugs, the former President said no single fly will get hurt during the election as enough measures have been put in place. In his words “all hands are on deck concerning the Ondo election. In fact, as you are all aware the whole world is interested in the election. The American government has shown interest. Even the Ooni of Ife is interested in the election. That is to tell you that no evil will befall the electorates during the election”.

Obasanjo therefore encouraged the citizens of Ondo State to come out en masse and vote for Eyitayo Jegede at the poll, stating that their votes will count. “Nothing will change the decision of the majority. Come out massively and vote for PDP, your votes will definitely count” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the leadership of PDP South-West geo-political zone, the Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Yemi Akinwonmi, said that the leaders resolved to build “an indivisible, united and strong entity under PDP’s umbrella. We know how much the good people of Ondo State love our candidate, Eyitayo Jegede and we want to assure the good people of Ondo State that PDP will never disappoint you”. He appreciated the former President for his support and wish him long life.
