IT IS CALLOUS, EVIL AND HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE TO OWE WORKERS’ SALARY – EYITAYO JEGEDE TELLS AKEREDOLU

PRESS RELEASE

The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state, Eyitayo Jegede SAN, has expressed concerns towards the intention of the incumbent government led by Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on the plans to owe workers salaries in the coming months.

Akeredolu had been credited with the statement during the inauguration of the 957-member Committee to lead his re-election bid.

Jegede described the intention as evil, callous and an act of irresponsibility to the plight of the people of Ondo State. He further noted that any serious government would rather be focused on how to alleviate the sufferings of the people and not add salt to their injuries. The PDP candidate assured the people of the state of his readiness to bring smiles to their faces soonest and urged the people to be ready for a government that will be people-centred and worker-friendly, by taking their welfare as a major priority.

These comments by Arakurin Akeredolu are coming so soon after his plea for rotational Governorship, which has now been shot to pieces by a governor who is clearly unable to provide the people with what they deserve. It is not surprising coming from a government whose record of accountability is very poor – the missing N4.3 billion remains a sore point in the minds of the workers.

Rather than pursue and deliver good governance, Akeredolu is hiding behind the shield of the Covid-19 pandemic, in spite of the enormous funds that were released by the Federal Government to Ondo State to help absorb the financial effects associated with the outbreak.
